John Fox who was born on February 8, 1955 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is the Head Coach for the Denver Broncos and has been coaching in the college ranks since 1978 and in the NFL since 1989.

Facts #1:

John Fox played defensive back for San Diego State University with former NFL player and Head Coach Her Edwards. He graduated with a teaching certificate and a degree in physical education.


Facts #2:

John Fox signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to play in their secondary. After the two year contract ended, Fox retired as a player from he NFL to concentrate on a life of coaching.

John Fox spent 10 years in the college ranks coach with San Diego State University, Boise State University, Long Beach State University,University of Utah, University of Kansas, Iowa State University, Los Angeles Express, and University of Pittsburgh all as a defensive backs coach.

John Fox got his first NFL coaching job in 1989 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He held that same position with the San Diego Chargers from 1992 to 1993 and The Los Angeles Raiders from 1994 to 1995. Fox spent the 1996 season as a personnel consultant for the St. Louis Rams.

John Fox was hired by he New York Giants in 1997 to be their defensive coordinator. The Giants made the Super Bowl in his third season with them getting brutalized by the Baltimore Ravens in a lopsided loss, 34-7.

John Fox was hired to replace Head Coach, George Seifert in 2002 to try and reverse the 1-15 2001 season of the Carolina Panthers. The 2002 season saw a different team under Fox as they finished the season, 7-9

John Fox in 2003 complete the turnaround of the Carolina Panthers leading the to Super Bowl XXXVII. They lost to the New England Patriots,32-29 by a last minute field goal by Adam Vinatieri. Fox is the second coach to take over a team that only won one game prior to his arrival and took them to the Super Bowl. The other coach was Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi.

John Fox’s contract was not renewed at the end of the 2010 season. His cumulative record coaching he Carolina Panthers was 73-71 with three playoff finishes and a 5-3 playoff record.

John Fox was hired by the Denver Broncos in January of 2011 by new GM John Elway. Since taking over the Denver Broncos, he has a cumulative record, 34-14 regular season and 3-3 in the playoffs. The Broncos have made it to the playoffs each year since Fox was hired with two Divisional game appearances and a Super Bowl appearance against the Seattle Seahawks.

John Fox missed the last half of the 2013 season including the 2013 playoffs and Super Bowl XLVIII due to an aortic valve replacement relinquishes head coaching duties to Defensive Coordinator and former Head Coach Jack Del Rio.
